Update on life

Heyyyy dearest peoples :)
I know I haven't been blogging for a while...but I have a reason to my absence...I broke my finger...well I fractured it anyways. Im taking off my splint tomorrow. Its been two weeks with it. Plus two weeks before that with my very first cast! Kind of exciting, but painful, too. And its super annoying when I really have to itch my hand! And so I am typing with my left hand. Ie also been writing with my non-dominant hand, and I myself couldn't even read it until I started improving last week. I love y'all and I'm really sorry about this!!

Warm weather up here!

Hey!

I'm currently listening to It's Time by Imagine Dragons :) Listen to it!
So today and for the rest of the week it's super warm! Sun melts snow! Plenty of puddles to slosh through :) (Gosh, I sound like a weather-person, updating the weather status everyday!)

Any-who, here are some pictures of stuff my mom has been making recently:
Its all available at her Etsy shop, though I'm pretty sure it doesn't ship outside North America..?

Doodles Downtown

Hiii!

Never mind, I jinxed the weather: It has been snowing nonstop since last night in yet another snowstorm. But on Friday it's supposed to be super warm again. And then when school starts again we shall be freezing XP.

This is what happens when you give a girl a crayon and a scrap sheet of paper: Oodles Of Doodles!!! (I'm pretty sure that's been trademarked or copyrighted or something, though.)

We also happened to go downtown, forgetting the camera, of course, and resorting to using an iPhone in a moving vehicle, but hopefully you like these pictures. This is, of course, before our annoying snow. Don't get me wrong, I love snow! But apparently this year is the worst winter to be here: it's the coldest and wettest winter in 25 years! Oh, yeah, and now you know where I live. This also happens to be a beach/harbour kinda place and it's pretty cool. We didn't get many pictures, though. ):

Oh, and I might've forgotten to mention what my Wattpad story is! So, here's a link http://www.wattpad.com/story/13069842 check it out!!! And maybe even vote! No pressure, though xP

How To: Polymer Clay Book + Key Charm

Hey guys!

Unusually warm weather today from the Land Up North ^.^
And yet I stayed in and worked at my craft table for the whole day. XD kids these days.
Any-who, I updated my story on Wattpad if you want to check it out. It's a fantasy, but I've only put up two chapters so far, leave any ideas or comments on the story there! I'd love some inspiration.

And without further ado, a picture tutorial of a book charm with a teensy little key. The book was inspired by this video Www.youtube.com/watch?v=2k9QAJv7w5w and I decided to make a key as well to finish it off! Let us begin!

Materials

Translucent clay
clay in the chosen color of book (choose a darker color to make it look older)
Either Silver or Gold depending on which goes best with the book color
Optional - to make the book look older or antique, grab some chalk pastels and a paintbrush

Tools

X-Acto knife
Roller
pointy/dotting tool
clay-safe work surface/ceramic tile
Oven (not a microwave!!!)

Translucent polymer clay
I have the weirdest silver clay; it doesn't look sparkly on the outside but it shimmers like crazy on the whole inside :) MAGICAL XP

I mixed red with a bit of brown and black to get a maroon-ish color. Oh, and I'm using silver to line it.

Mix translucent with a bit of white to get the color of the pages.

This clay is weird. It's almost almost unconditionable! And its hard to mix with other colors, that's why in the next picture you can see swirls of white. And it was so hard to properly incorporate I just gave up cuz you'll barely notice it later anyway.

Roll out the color of the book cover, and stick the pages in the center, cutting around the shape until you have a proper book cover.

Don't do what I did! Add an eye-pin to the page-part of the charm before adding all the details!
Use an X-Acto knife or a pointy tool to make markings on the three visible sides that would be pages. Don't worry if you make the cuts too deep, and you can never make too many cuts! (Unless, of course, that results in the falling-apart of the book :P

Roll out thin snakes of your second color. (gold or silver)

Wrap 'em around the whole perimeter of the book, adding ropes for the spine of the book.

Use a pointy tool to poke little dots on the accents. I also cut a tiny lock shape out of the silver clay.

I made this tiny key by wrapping a short eye-pin in silver clay, rolling out a thin rope and cutting out three pieces for the key part. One flattened ball on either side of the eye-pin helped finish it.

Use a paintbrush to brush on shades from the soft chalk pastels. Use browns for the cover and gradually get darker, and paint yellows and grays on the pages.

Attach both pieces to a chain after baking them at the right temperatures according to the package.

And you're done! Hope you like this tutorial!

Polymer Clay Earrings

Hiya!

I've recently began to make things out of polymer clay and it's super fun so I decided to share some of the earrings I made with you!

Cookie Monster, Mickey Mouse, and some hearts :)

You wanna make these? Grab some earring mounts/backs, polymer clay, and some super glue. I've displayed some different sizes that I found: the smallest ones came in a tiny ziploc bag for the same price as 2 pairs each of the three bigger sizes. And the smallest ones had, like, alot more mounts. Make sense? Hope so.

This is pretty much all I did.
Remember to follow the baking instructions on your packages of clay - I used two different brands of clay for my cookie monster, and the eyes needed a shorter baking time and thats why they're darker, because they are overbaked :(

Till next time, then!!!

Polymer Clay Love :)

Hey!
Some Polymer Clay charms I made :)
The little Kitty-Cat I gave to my friend Rachel, after I attached it to a chain and made it into a charm bracelet. The mushroom is a 1-up in the Super Mario Bros videos games series. I mixed my own green-tea colored clay and rolled it out. After cutting out a bow shape I folded the three flaps in to the center. And the last one is a minion from the Universal Pictures movie Despicable Me. He kinda got squished before I baked him. I shall try again :) If you want to try any of these out, or would like a tutorial, let me know and I will see what I can do!
